Gabbard's nomination was one of the most difficult for the Trump Administration to get through the United States Senate. Not just because she was a Democratic Congresswoman, but also given her public statements spreading Russian propaganda and disinformation.
Gabbard will now be tasked with reforming the intelligence community and will have access to the nation's highest-level secrets. I'm sure Putin is super stoked about that. While serving as a member of Congress, Gabbard came under significant fire for meeting with former Syrian Dictator Bashar Al-Assad during a secret visit to Syria.
Following that meeting, Gabbard has refused to publicly call Assad a war criminal and has openly praised him. She has also long promoted Russian propaganda on her social media channels, which is a totally normal thing that the head of America's Intelligence agency should be doing.
Questions over Gabbard's past have raised such significant flags in the past that she became a fixture on the TSA's extra screening list last year. She was eventually removed...and made head of Intelligence. No DEI - unless Putin tells you too.
