Sorry, I meant "Unqualified DEI Hire Pete Hegseth confirmed by Senate as Secretary of Defense". In what will no doubt go down as the worst appointment in history the former Fox News host and current Trump loyalist Pete Hegseth has been assigned to the most powerful military post in the country, possibly the world.
I already wrote an article detailing why this appointment is so dangerous for not just the country, but the world. You can read more about that here. If you don't want to read that, the TL;DR is that Hegseth is a raging alcoholic who faced allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman at a Republican conference in California, a claim he denies despite later paying the woman $50,000 for what I can only assume is a completely unrelated reason.
"We must not underestimate the importance of having a top-shelf communicator as secretary of defense. Other than the president, no official plays a larger role in telling the men and women in uniform, the Congress, and the public about the threats we face and the need for a peace-through-strength defense policy," Chairman Wicker said.
Honestly, it makes sense that they think he’d be perfect for this job - who better to run the US military than the guy whose last job was Propagandist.
