After 3 weeks of constant bombardment by the Musk/Trump regime, it seems that some of the checks and balances have started to check and balance. The people are protesting in the streets, judges are freezing executive orders, and the courts are mounting more cases.
Trump's agenda is getting slowed down by more than 40 lawsuits filed by unions, state attorneys general, and other groups.
The recent Treasury ruling just went against Trump, forcing Musk to get his hands off of our data.
Efforts to destroy the U.S. Agency for International Development have halted.
The drive to end birthright citizenship is temporarily blocked and is being scrutinized as unconstitutional.
However, rage is ramping up among Trump’s allies over the losses that his agenda has suffered in court, which are clearly becoming a serious obstacle to him. It’s so bad that Elon Musk and JD Vance (the guy who ACTUALLY ran with Trump, not Musk s) are now suggesting that it's time to defy the courts. Musk also boosted Trump allies who are seething mad over these rulings. Musk's very clear threat to us is that he and MAGA are preparing to defy judicial rulings.
Recently, Musk also actively agreed with Senator Mike Lee’s suggestion that Trump and MAGA are facing a supposed judicial coup (they'd know what one looks like). So is Musk preparing MAGA to start ignoring the courts? And if so, can he be stopped?
Here are ways that the US government can fight the fascist overreach of Musk/Trump:
Defend the rule of law.
Fight corruption.
Pluralistic government. (tl;dr Diversity makes us strong, in both people and government agencies)
Defend elections.
Fight disinformation
Protect media
Explain that democracy delivers better than dictatorships.
If America does those seven things, we will have a real shot at restoring a working democracy. Well, if the Supreme Court allows us to. The same Supreme Court that gave Trump immunity. The same Trump who [r\\proclaimed to be a dictator on day one.
There's a huge possibility that the Supreme Court will review some of the 40 legal cases as well as the many that are sure to come - but are they too far gone to trust?
JD Vance, when he was planning some of the administration's legally dubious positions, quoted (my least favorite president) President Andrew Jackson saying, "The Supreme Court has issued their opinion. Now let them enforce it."
Chilling.
